![]() AVYC Member and Artist My inspiration for painting boats comes from a combination of the sky, the water, the majestic looking sails waving high in the sky, the reflection of the boat in the water and the many different "moods" that the combination of all these create. Whether it's sunny, calm, stormy or foggy I always have a wide variety of possibilities... my creative opportunities are endless. I came across this photo and was instantly inspired to paint it. The way the sun was setting and the brilliance of the colors made me want to make this part of my sailing series. I had asked permission from the owners and they were kind enough to let me. |
The Allegro
"The Allegro" is a Mason 33, built by Tashing in Taiwan in 1987. The owners sail her on Lake Superior and mostly in the Apostle Islands. The photo was taken in Quarry Bay on Stockton Island. Early Morning's Light ![]() A 30 x 40 canvas painted in oils |
