Age 83, of Rochester, New York, formerly from Elmira, New York, died Saturday, June 7, 2003, at Rochester General Hospital. Born June 9, 1919 in Sayre, Pa. she was the daughter of the late Fred and Sara Amerman Detrick and predeceased by husband Cornelius E. Kearney. Mrs. Kearney was employed by the Chemung Canal Trust Company in Elmira in the early 70's as chef in the executive dining room. She was known for her generous heart and quick wit and her passion for cooking, especially for the elderly and the sick. During the Flood of 72' she provided hundreds of sandwiches to flood victims and the needy for several days outside of the Chemung Canal Trust Company until power could be restored. She is survived by two sons, James Kearney and daughter in law, Patricia of North Carolina, Neil Kearney of Jefferson City, Mo.; three daughters, Georgia Vosburgh of Rochester, N.Y., Donna Bannister and son in law Kerry of North East Maryland, Ann Gordon and son in law Michael of Rock Hill, S.C.; grandchildren, Christine Sykes Lowe, James Kearney Jr., Robert Ryan and Alan Burns of North Carolina, Paula Rae Kearney Walker of Texas., Carolyn Bannister of Maryland, Kerry Paul and Christopher Bannister of Minnesota, Dana and Devin Vosburgh of N.Y., Emily and Sarah Kearney of Michigan; four great grandchildren, Tylear, Jacob, Sarah and Austin. |
