Calendar Frequently Asked Questions

I keep clicking on a calendar month but nothing happens! Why!!?
You need to look at the bottom of your screen in MSIE for open browser windows that have been minimized or at the top for open tabs in Opera & Fire Fox . All of our calendar pages open in what we call a new “Print-Friendly Window.” Once you leave an open window or tab it's easy to get a little lost. The effect is you click and click but nothing seems to happen.
Why is there all that typing at the top and bottom of the calendar?

That is created by your print setup. They are called the Header and the Footer and may be eliminated by simply clearing those fields in your printer's setup box. Check your printer's documentation for the details.
The calendar won’t print on one page. Why? or... The bottom part of the calendar prints on page 2! What's up with that?
Chances are you are trying to print a portrait calendar in landscape mode.
If you are trying to print a landscape calendar:
Other variables are your screen setup and print setup etc. Usually as long as these are close to default settings you should not have a problem. If one or more of the month pages print over to another page, and you have followed the print in Landscape or Portrait instructions, here are a few things you can check:
If any of these measures do not work, please write us. Be sure and tell us which calendar (Name), year and month is involved.
Is there a way I can make the calendar pages bigger?
Yes you can! The two easiest ways are:
1 - Increase the text size in you browser. How one does that varies by browser but in MS Internet Explorer it is under the "View" menu > "Text Size". The Default in MSIE is Medium. Taking it to large and Largest will increase the size of the calendar. Note: "Largest" setting may distort the Wednesday Column a little. Of course making the text size smaller will have the opposite affect.
2- Adjust the margins in your print setup. Again the MSIE default is .75 on all sides.
3- Some printer setups today allow for a "Fit Page" option and other page sizing options. You may want to look for those.
One final note: It's always a good idea to use "Print Preview" (If you have it available) while your adjusting the calendar. It saves on a lot of paper!
Can I edit the calendar and type information in the date boxes?
The answer is yes. Our calendars, unlike many other calendars on the Internet, are built with **HTML code, which is compatible with MS Word and many other popular text programs. You can save the calendar to your hard drive from our site and open the file using your program or simply use copy and paste to the program of your choice, edit it then save it on your computer. (See the Detailed Steps below)
** HyperText Markup Language
Detailed Steps

Open Word and create a new document and place your cursor mark in the body of the document then under Edit click on Paste or right click your mouse button and click on paste.
NOTE: A moderate knowledge of tables and how they work in Word is helpful but most people say that trial and error works also. Get used to using the "Undo" under edit until you find your way.
Is there a way to print the entire year without having to print each month?
We, at one time, had a page that allowed the user to print the entire year with one command. Some people had a problem. The reasons varied from printer to browser incompatibility. We have had, for some time, navigation arrows ![]()
at the top of each calendar page that will move the user from month-to-month. Our studies have easily shown that it is just as fast to use the navigation arrows and simply repeat the print command for each month. That way there will be no possible issues with the individual page break commands and we don't get as many
help
e-mails.
I want to support the calendar. How do I send you money?
Oh, wonderful wonderful you! We try and make it obvious without getting in anyone’s way. So, it is not surprising some people miss it. You may support us through PayPal, **Credit Card or by US mail. The details are on our “ How it Works” Page. And, for those who did…Thanks for asking!
** Credit card transactions are handled by PayPal. You do not need to have a PayPal account to use your credit card to support us.. We simply use their secure server and your Honor Payment will be handled just like any other credit card transaction.
Did you know that April 1st says April Pool’s Day?
Thanks for bringing that to our attention we have corrected the date and it now reads “April’s Pool Day”. (It's only on a few calendars. It's a lighthearted tradition started several years ago. Every year we get feedback from those who are quick to correct us seemingly unaware that it's exactly the type of thing that is done on April 1st - April Fools Day!.)
Under the honor system, is my payment for each calendar I print or for a year?
The great thing about our honor system is that you get to set the price and frequency of payment based solely on the value you place on the calendar. Our role in the Honor System is to agree and appreciate your choice.
Update: After many requests for guidance in this area we have decided to make the honor payment guidelines official. Effective January 1st 2008 any payment, under the honor system, is for one user for one year - unlimited use of all calendars and forms on our site. You still get to decide how much you value our service by picking the amount. So when you print your new calendar be sure that one of the first dates you mark on it is your payment date! ![]()
How often can I print a calendar once I pay, without having to pay again?
See the new policy above... A great feature of the No-Frills Calendar is that one can print a calendar, mark it up, and then print a clean one. Try returning a marked up calendar for a clean one at your favorite office supply store! Many supporters have said that they take that into consideration when they value the calendar.
Are there many people who use the calendar but who do not pay?
We don’t try and track our visitors so we don't know the actual number but based on the number of visitors and the number who pay, those who don't pay outnumber the those who do.
Does that necessarily make those who don't pay bad people?
No. It would require us to know more about the person and their situation before forming that assumption. (And that's if we were inclined to make such an assumption).
This is where our Honor System really kicks into high gear!
We choose to be a very optimistic site! The pessimistically inclined would argue that having an Honor System is counter cultural to the Internet. We disagree and prove it every month in which we cover our expenses. We will never be a rich site but we are proud to say, we have covered our expenses (thanks to some very special people) since 2003! Of course, we do need your new and continued support to make sure that continues! ![]()
"I want a site that celebrates the best of the Internet and offers the opportunity for people to participate in something not normally found there. I want everyone to leave my site feeling good about their experience!" ~

Thanks, very much, to those who support us! To everyone who visits this site we wish you many happy days on your personal calendar.
