Currently my favorite bodies of water are those I am most familiar with, Buzzards Bay and Vineyard Sound.  I grew up on these waters and six years ago fulfilled a dream of owning a "tug boat".  "Little Toot" is a 1981 26' harbor tug -- a launch hull really, custom build by Crosby Boat Yards in Osterville -- we replaced the ailing 50 horse perkins with a 50 hp yanmar - diesel last year and Little Toot, with her displacement hull still only plugs along at about 6 - 7 knots.  When my husband and I and our two 8 year old sibling portuguese water dogs, Basil and Pepper are on the water we are never so at peace.  We hope, eventually, once the kids are all launched (two now in college, 2 in high school) to acquire a liveaboard sailboat and add some new favorite bodies of water by exploring further afar.  Ran into "our" website as was looking for a simple 8 x 10 calendar for my mother for 2006 to replace a free one she received from her insurance company for many years. !
As of this year the company is no longer providing them.  So, I will be mailing in my honor donation and look forward to reading others' tales of their love of the water.  Be well and best in the new year.

HI, Jim -- nice to find you again! Michael and I are still living aboard the Wind Walker, but we're in Victoria, BC, now. We manage the marina we live in here, and another one a block or so away. I'm so glad the AVYC is still happening! I'll post some of our Christmas pics, too...

I have a 24 ft /Bayliner/w/flying bridge.  5.7 merc.  54 hours on the new engine. I mostly use the East Tennessee lakes, South Holston of late.
May 7 2006 I am planning a trip down the Tenn-Ton .  I will put in at Knoxville, Tenn. I have about 14 days so I will go out 6 or 7 and then back.  Has anyone  made the trip. Any suggestions would be great. I've had my boat for about 12 years.  Just love boating.  My son is active Navy,FC 3, on the Chancellorsville a Cruiser stationed in Japan.

Dear Sirs and Friends on the Water:

I was a member of the USPS for 25 years, advanced to JN and taught the public boating course for 20 of those years.  I think, live and breathe the water and the ocean.  I had a 20 foot Sportcraft which I kept at Surfside Marina near Freeport, TX.  It took me 65 miles offshore for Kingfish quite regularly.  Circmstances change, and I no longer have a boat but a smaller center console rig for Spec fishing in the bay is now a thought of mine.

Contact me anytime by any means.

As a twice retired English teacher of college-bound Seniors. I have a web site hoping for occasional tutoring jobs.  Please visit:

Thank you for your calendars and especially for sharing your love of the water,

Seneca lake is my favorite for pleasure cruising. I own an 1987 30'sundancer that I  call "King David". King David has an 11' beam and twin 260hp mercs w/alpha ones. I'm very happy with this boat, my first Searay. We live in Lockport NY and mostly cruise the Erie Canal, Niagara River and Lake Erie. My last boat, a 28' Bayliner flybridge had lots of trouble with the Niagara River in that it was underpowered with only 276hp . King David has plenty of power and is a dream to dock. I found this club via Google search. Thanks Sea Ya

Sailing out of the Port City of Memphis, Tennessee but boat, 37' Irwin cc sloop, is in water at Pickwick Lake on the Tenn. River waterway, just miles from the Tn-Tom Waterway.  Sailing and fishing keep me active on the water.  I have a wife and 3 sons; two older and one almost 6, and a water-loving Corgi.  I found you through google.

Because I'm truly a new boater (never thought we'd have a boat until 24 hours before we bought it), guess my favorite water would be Long Island Sound. That means being still in sight of Southport Harbor. The boat is a 22' 1979 Sisu with a Volvo inboard diesel. Currently, she's being totally renovated. We're taking a lot of "before and after" photos. Never guessed that we would be putting this much money into a boat. We also realize that we will never get our money back from it. But......the boat should give us much enjoyment. Hopefully, she will be ready for the "Blessing of the Fleet" that takes place here in Southport, CT every Spring. If a fish ever jumps into the boat after we've done all this work, I'll slap it back into the water. Anyone else who has experience with Sisu's ...I'd like to hear from. Thanks.

I've been sailing for over 35 years, and my wife Judy and I currently have an O'Day 23. We keep her primarily on Clearfork reservior close to home, but our f.b.w. is Lake Erie, about an hour north. Our boat has a shoal draft keel, and is fairly easy to trailer for long weekend adventures. This site is great, and I look forward to visiting often.

Good luck!

Best regards,

I recently bought a 16' sailboat and have been getting it ready to sail. In the past, I've had some motor boat experience, but I always liked sailboats. I've always liked the water, being on it, playing in it, etc. I don't know if I have a favorite body of water, but the Atlantic in the Bahamas sure was nice. You could see clear to the bottom. I also enjoy the Hatteras area of the Outer Banks in North Carolina. It's still not overrun with tourist and tourist businesses. I found this web site by looking for a 2006 calendar for an event at work next March. I have two kids and hope to use the boat to help teach them about working together as a team and depending on each other.

Love your site!! Can't believe I did not find it sooner. Found it on a google search for "Bring Out Another Thousand." Because we too like to look at the lighter side of boating, we recently opened an online store that is about just that... bringing out another thousand. Check it out at www.AnotherThou.com and tell us what you think! We always say that being on the water sets us free. We are in SW Florida and love Gulf Coast boating. We recently moved here from Minnesota so that we could boat year 'round. In MN we had a '47 Bluewater, and it was the haul-out and shrink-wrap each year that pusehd us over the edge. "The season is over already?" we'd say. Now, we cruise the coastline in our '31 Tiara and never worry about the season ending (except for the occassional hurricane, of course). Bye for now... and happy cruising!! --Brenda
