Bernie I live in Baltimore, Maryland and we (My Wife & Myself) boat on the Chesapeake Bay. Crusing and fishing are our favorite water activities. My Boat is a 1984 Carver 32 ft Aft Cabin named "Uptown Girl" and she is my classy Uptown Girl. Its great spending weekends on her in the many Marina's and Cove's here on the Chesapeake. I received a email from "C-Map Newsletter" and there was a section titled on the lighter Side and there I read about Volunteer Yacht Club so after reading and looking at the pictures I joined.... Mark Old Hickory Lake and the inland river system is where we boat. We have a Carver 445 and a Grady White 300 Marlin along with a SeaRay F-16 jet boat. The Grady is the best boat I ever owned. The Carver is stately, but not real boating. It's like a traveling house. I found the site just surfing the net. November 19, 2004 at 08:54:42 |

Patrick We live near Puget Sound so of coarse we do our boating between Olympia WA. and Desolation Sound in Canada. We do have Lake Washington, so can use the locks to get to fresh water, although our preferance is salt water. We spend our time crabbing, fishing, picking oysters and digging clams. We also just like to cruise, we boat the year around and consider ourselves the luckiest people in the world to have what we consider to be the best cruising waters in the world.. Oh yeah, Florida, I've been there and you cant tell if the birds are swimming or walking. No thanks. We have a 38 Bayliner with naturally aspirated diesels. A very comfortable boat if not the fastest. In short, we enjoy ourselves immensly and love boating. By the way you have a great site, do you have reciprocal? Pat & Jeanne SeaTac, WA. Tony I own a 1979 C&C30 MK1. I sail in the Bay of Islands in Newfoundland with the odd trip to Quebec North Shore and Nova Scotia. My favourite place to sail is the Bras D'or Lakes in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. I have done many upgrades to my vessel including replacement of the Atomic IV with a 30hp diesel, propane heater, wiring, etc. IN winter we downhill ski(at Marble Mountain-8 minutes from my house, high speed lift, no lineups, 1600ft.elev.) with a little xcountry thrown in.Hope the knees last another year. Have skiied most of hills in western Canada but none in US. This year am staying home prepping boat for hopefully trip south thru the ICW in 2005. November 18, 2004 at 15:21:59 |

Bill My wife and I were recently married on the water at our home marina (had to be done). We have a 10m Prowler with all the comforts of home. We are moored on Lake Simcoe but boat on Georgian Bay every chance we get. There's nothing better than dropping the hook in a quiet lagoon with nobody around but nature, and being so sheltered weather is rarely a problem. We swim, hike on shore and crruise for miles by dinghy. I has been said that Georgian Bay and its 30,000 islands has the best fresh water boating in North America, we can see why. Hope to do the circle route in a couple of years, just to compare. Heard about you from C-Map. November 18, 2004 at 13:28:42 |

: Rick Member's Comment: What is the nicest 40-50 feet cruising/racing sailboat? I recently sailed a Swan 45 on a regatta. She was a true pleasure to sail but expensive and not a very good cruising yacht. Another nice boat is the Sweden Yacht 45 but that one is also really expensive. Do you have any experience of other nice boats in that size? Best regards Rick Posted: October 23, 2004 at 13:56:52 To respond to or add a comment to this page CLICK HERE |
