Gypsy Hi Capt. Jim, from rainy Germany. We've had some of the worst rain in the history of the country so your joke with Noah came in handy. Just wanted to let you know we are enjoying your newslatter immensely. My wife reads over my shoulder and laughs in my ear (Wanna puppy?). She likes it so much, she has me send it to her at work. Keep up the good work and know that I visit "my boat club" regularly during the month. Thanks, Gypsy Saturday, July 22, 2002 at 11:17:34 ________________________________________________________ |

Elizabeth My favorite local body of water is Lake Ponchatrain- beautiful, safe, family access, and beautiful beautiful sunsets/sailing by moonlight. But my favorite "would like to go there and sail" body of water is Lake Michigan. Favorite water activity is without a doubt sailing, especially overnight trips. I do love swimming and dolphin swimming too. I am looking at buying a sailboat, but have not yet. I found this club by searching for the Lake Ponch. yacht club. Glad to come aboard! Pat Hi! I have a deep and genuine love for the water. I grew up on Lake St. Clair which is connected to the Great Lakes of Michigan. My childhood was spent on the water, fishing, swimming and cruising across the waterways. I found this club by just typing in "boating clubs" on AOL. I haven't been out on the water much lately, and miss it terribly. I guess pretending to be on the water by reading the adventures and antics of others will just have to do for now. I have a boat, a 22.5 ft Four Winns cuddy cabin. But unfortunately have to sell it due to a divorce! It's in great condition and will be a great boat for some boating enthusist! Looking forward to reading and learning more about this club! Thanks! Sunday, July 14, 2002 at 13:08:58 |

Trey I have a 1957 LoneStar Cruiser, and primarily use it on the Little Red and White rivers in Arkansas. The boat's interior has been restored, not to original, but looks very good. All it needs now is a good paint job, and the windows could use replacing. I would like to know if anyone AVYC has an old LoneStar. Thanks. Bill Learned to sail my lanteen-rigged canoe in the Rock River near Rockford, Illinois, and later in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Then started sailing a D-Scow, and Crewed on an A-Scow in the Macinac Island race... My fbw is the Pacific Ocean - from Baja California to Santa Barbara. Cruising the Channel Islands rates as my #1 favorite, and my greatest feat was reaching Santa Barbara Island from Marina Del Rey in the fog, using only DED reckoning (When the sun came out briefly at the time we should have been close, the island appeared, and we were only 1/2 mile off course... Also, we like to gunkhole around Catalina Island, Santa Cruz Island, Santa Rosa Island, with an occasional visit to Cuyler's Cove on San Miguel Island (A Major Undertaking - We've turned back more times than we made it all the way and dropped anchor). I found the club when I was searching for some jokes on the subject of awards.... but I haven't seen your humor page yet... Saturday, June 01, 2002 at 11:21:49 |
